The Royal Moroccan Football Federation announced on Monday that the Kingdom of Morocco will host the African Cup of Nations in 2025 during the summer season.
This marks the second time in the competition’s history that Morocco has been chosen to host the tournament, with the previous edition held in Egypt in 2019.
In an official statement released on their website, Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and head of the national team committee, emphasized the importance of working diligently to please Moroccan football fans.
This includes preparing for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and gearing up for the African Cup of Nations finals, which will be hosted by Morocco in the coming summer, demonstrating the high regard that King Mohammed VI holds for Moroccan football.
Fouzi Lekjaa, who is also the head of the national team committee, held several evaluation meetings regarding the participation of the Moroccan national football team in the ongoing African Cup of Nations, currently taking place in Ivory Coast.
During these meetings, Lekjaa and national team coach Walid Regragui discussed the team’s preparations for the competition and the results achieved so far, which halted at the round of 16.
This outcome has left a sense of regret and disappointment among all components of Moroccan football.
