Steven Gerrard has accepted the position of coach at Saudi side Al Ettifaq, reversing his earlier decision, according to an announcement by the Saudi Pro League club on Monday.
The former Liverpool and England midfielder had previously declined the offer, but has now had a change of heart, joining other notable names in the growing league.
Al Ettifaq took to Twitter to express their excitement, stating, “Where legends are found. We’re thrilled to announce Steven Gerrard is our new head coach.”
Gerrard, aged 43, led Rangers to their first Scottish Premiership title in a decade in 2021 before departing for Aston Villa, where he was later dismissed in October.
This move follows a series of high-profile signings in the Saudi Pro League, including Cristiano Ronaldo joining Al Nassr in December and Karim Benzema joining Al Ittihad in June.
