Eastern Libyan military leader Khalifa Haftar has issued instructions to the Civil Aviation Authority to open Al-Abraq Airport and commence domestic and international flights through it. The decision aims to “alleviate suffering and ease burdens on our people in the eastern region,” according to the statement.

On May 6th, the administration of Al-Abraq International Airport urged all airlines to open international routes through the airport or provide written reasons and obstacles if unable to do so. The airport assured its full readiness and operation around the clock.

The airport administration confirmed that all operational requirements are in place, including various facilities, aviation service companies such as handling and fuel supply, equipment and amenities, as well as the multi-layered security system, communication, and air navigation systems.
