Lebanon’s health ministry reported at least 25 people killed since early Friday as the yearlong conflict between Israel and Hezbollah intensified this week, sparking fears of a broader and more destructive war between the two heavily armed forces.
Israeli airstrikes have targeted residential areas where Hezbollah has reportedly stored weapons.
Despite Israel’s warnings for residents to evacuate, the strikes have led to civilian casualties, including children.
Over 100,000 people have been internally displaced in Lebanon since Israel began its airstrike campaigns more than a week ago, according to the Lebanese government’s registry.
Officials believe the actual figure may exceed half a million.
