Italy’s Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has asserted that any decisions regarding NATO must be made collectively among member states and their allies.
Tajani stated that while Italy is a part of NATO, decisions must be made jointly.
He emphasized that Italy will not send any soldiers to Ukraine, although it will permit the use of its military equipment within Ukraine.
This stance reflects Italy’s commitment to supporting Ukraine without directly involving its troops in the conflict.
Transport and Infrastructure Minister Matteo Salvini echoed Tajani’s sentiments, affirming that Italy is not at war with anyone.
Despite providing military assistance to Ukraine, Italy is not in favor of lifting the restrictions on Kyiv’s use of Western weapons to strike military targets in Russia.
Salvini stressed the importance of pursuing peace rather than creating conditions that could lead to a third world war.
These statements came in response to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg’s call to lift restrictions on Ukraine’s use of Western weapons for strikes within Russian territory.
