The planned visit of Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen to Bahrain, scheduled for next week, has been postponed.
According to Israeli media, observers believe that Itamar Ben-Gvir’s visit to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem is the reason behind the delay.
During the first six months of the current government’s term, there has been a notable decrease in the number of visits by senior Israeli officials to Arab countries compared to the same period of the Bennett-Lapid government term.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Cohen visited only one Arab country, while Defense Minister Naftali Bennett visited three countries and Yair Lapid visited five.
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant did not visit any Arab country, while his predecessor, Benny Gantz, visited Morocco and Bahrain.
