An Israeli security delegation is set to travel to Egypt soon in an effort to resolve a crisis concerning direct flights from Ben Gurion Airport to the Sharm El-Sheikh resort in the Sinai Peninsula.
Representatives from the Israeli National Security Council and the Ministry of Transportation will form the delegation tasked with finding a solution to this issue.
Media outlets claimed that these flights will be halted next week due to a lack of security coordination with Egyptian authorities. However, the visit of the Israeli delegation could potentially prevent this disruption.
Direct flights from Israel to Egypt are part of a strategic agreement between the two countries. Sharm El-Sheikh is known to be one of the most popular tourist destinations for Israelis, many of whom prefer spending their holidays on the Sinai Peninsula.
This upcoming visit follows on the heels of an Israeli military delegation’s trip to Cairo last month, aimed at finalizing the investigation into an incident where an Egyptian policeman killed three Israeli soldiers near the border before being shot dead by Israeli forces on June 3.
