The Israeli military has confirmed its withdrawal from the Jenin refugee camp following a two-day operation. The operation resulted in the death of 12 Palestinians and one Israeli soldier.
In what is described as the largest military maneuver by Israel in the West Bank in years, hundreds of soldiers were deployed, supported by drone strikes and army bulldozers that tore up the streets.
Before pulling out, Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, promised to implement similar operations if deemed necessary. He said during his visit to a military post near Jenin, “As we are wrapping up this mission, I can assure that our comprehensive operation in Jenin isn’t an isolated incident. We are committed to combatting terrorism wherever it exists, and we won’t hesitate to respond.”
In the early hours of Wednesday, the Israeli military reported carrying out air strikes on the Gaza Strip in response to five rockets targeted at Israeli land, which were successfully intercepted.
A Palestinian security source stated that the attack impacted a military location belonging to Hamas, the militant group, in northern Gaza, though no injuries were reported.
In another incident, a car ramming and stabbing attack in Tel Aviv on Tuesday resulted in seven injuries. The assailant was subsequently shot and killed.
