Haissam Bou-Said, Head of the International Human Rights Council mission to the United Nations, has asserted that Israel’s actions in Palestine, including the killing of children and ethnic cleansing, constitute genocide. He highlighted Israel’s record of the highest level of child casualties globally and expects the International Court of Justice to issue a final ruling on this matter.
Speaking to the Cairo News Channel, Ambassador Bou-Said underscored the importance of global media coverage of Israel’s violations and humanitarian crimes against Palestinians. He emphasized that these atrocities surpass humanitarian norms and exceed typical wartime measures.
Ambassador Bou-Said elaborated on how the actions of the Israeli army are supported by certain countries politically, judicially, and legally, allowing for broader actions compared to the past. He suggested that there are indications of planning for a broader battle in Rafah.
Regarding international responses, he noted that the European Union condemns all Israeli violations against Palestinians and calls for the protection of civilians. Meanwhile, the United States recently announced its direct involvement by sending officers from the US Army to coordinate actions in Rafah.
Ambassador Bou-Said pointed out the growing international opposition to Israeli actions, with some countries joining the International Court of Justice in a lawsuit filed by South Africa. Additionally, there are calls to halt military support and arms sales to Israel, alongside diplomatic calls to boycott the Zionist entity.
He highlighted the alarming number of Palestinians, including children and women, held in Israeli occupation prisons, which has reached over 9,000, the highest in over a decade. These prisoners face violations, torture, and other abuses, further underscoring the blatant violations perpetrated by Israel.
