Iraq announced today, Friday, the reception of 366 Lebanese citizens through the Al-Qa’im border crossing. The Iraqi Ministry of Migration and Displacement stated, in a report by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that it continues to receive Lebanese families arriving in Iraq due to the ongoing brutal Israeli aggression on Lebanon via the Al-Qa’im border crossing.
This action follows directives from Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani and Minister of Migration and Displacement, Evan Faiq Jabro. The ministry added that a new batch of 366 Lebanese citizens was received, and necessary facilitation was provided to them.
Lebanon is facing an escalating humanitarian crisis as a result of ongoing Israeli airstrikes, which have displaced over a million people. The situation has been compounded by shortages of basic needs such as food, water, and medical supplies. More than 1,000 people have died, including many children and health workers, while over 6,000 have been injured.
Humanitarian organizations, such as the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and UNICEF, report that the conflict has overwhelmed shelters and healthcare services, with 90% of displaced families struggling to meet basic needs. The crisis is worsening by the hour, particularly for children, as both the international community and aid agencies race to provide urgent assistance. The deteriorating conditions and the potential for a broader regional conflict are raising alarms globally.
