The Iraqi Red Crescent Society announced today that it has set up field hospitals and mobile clinics in the border region of Al-Qaim to treat injured Lebanese citizens.
This initiative comes as part of Iraq’s ongoing medical aid campaign, coordinated with Lebanon’s Ministry of Health.
Ali Al-Mousawi, Director of the Health Department at the Iraqi Red Crescent, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), “Iraqi medical assistance has fulfilled 80% of Lebanon’s Ministry of Health needs,” noting that the aid is being prepared based on lists provided by the Lebanese ministry.
He added, “There are an additional 20 tons of new medicines and medical supplies that will be sent to Lebanon soon.”
Al-Mousawi also highlighted that field hospitals have been established at the Iraqi border in Al-Qaim to receive injured individuals arriving by land.
In addition to these field hospitals, four mobile clinics have been equipped with medical personnel to support the effort.
Earlier today, the Iraqi Red Crescent Society dispatched the second shipment of medicines and medical supplies to Beirut, Lebanon’s capital.
In an official statement, Dr. Ali Al-Mousawi said, “The second shipment, weighing 15 tons, includes over 40 medical items, mainly medications for treating injuries and materials used in operating rooms, as per the needs provided by the Lebanese Ministry of Health.”
The first batch was previously delivered to Beirut via air, and this second batch will be transported overland by trucks.
