Instagram has introduced a “templates” feature for stories, allowing users to create their own templates. This feature, named “Add Yours,” enables users to add GIFs, texts, and images to a story template, which can then be shared with others.
To create an “Add Yours” template, users can add GIFs, texts, and images to their story. They can then select the “Add Your Templates” option from the sticker tray and choose the elements they wish to include in their template.
Once a user shares an “Add Yours” template in their story, it becomes available for anyone else to use and personalize.
If a user wants to use someone else’s template, they can tap on the “Add Your Template” prompt when they see it in a story. This action will take them to the camera, where they can see all elements of the template and customize it by adding their own texts, images, and GIFs.
The faces that appear on the left side of the sticker indicate other users who have also customized the template.
Instagram’s “Add Your Story” template feature is being made available to users worldwide.
Instagram also has an “Add Yours” sticker for stories, introduced in 2021. The customized templates are based on this feature, allowing users to add a personal touch to the prompts.
For Reels, Instagram has introduced a “Template Browser” in July, enabling users to customize pre-prepared templates for their video clips.
Earlier this week, Instagram also launched an AI-powered background editing tool, which allows users to change the background of their photos through the story prompts.
Additionally, there is an AI-powered tool for creating stickers, allowing users to generate stickers from text prompts.
In 2023, Instagram has rolled out a series of significant updates and new features, marking a continuous evolution in its user interface and functionality. These changes reflect Instagram’s commitment to enhancing user experience, expanding creator monetization options, and offering more engaging content creation tools.
A notable change this year was the simplification of Instagram’s navigation bar in February. The redesign positioned the content creation shortcut centrally, shifted Reels to the right, and removed the Shop tab. Despite this, Instagram continues to support shopping experiences through other features such as feeds, stories, and ads.
Instagram has also improved the Reels experience, both in terms of creation and analytics. The new editor for Reels is more user-friendly, allowing for seamless integration of audio and visual elements. Additionally, updated analytics for Reels provide creators with detailed insights into watch times and engagement, helping them refine their content strategies.
A unique addition is the ability to download Reels from public accounts, akin to a feature on TikTok, which aids in content sharing and broader reach. This is especially beneficial for creators and businesses aiming to expand their audience.
The introduction of the ‘Add Yours’ stickers in Reels offers users an easy way to participate in global trends and create new, trendy content. Moreover, the gesture control feature in Reels allows users to start recording videos using arm movements, enhancing the ease of content creation.
