The Lebanese militant group Hezbollah announced that it targeted Israeli soldiers with artillery fire at the Metula area on Tuesday, claiming direct hits.
In response, the Israeli military launched a “precisely targeted” airstrike against Hezbollah’s weapon production sites and other infrastructure in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
In a statement, the Israeli military detailed that it had taken multiple steps to minimize civilian casualties during the strike.
These measures included warning the local population, using precision ammunition, and employing aerial photography.
The military emphasized its commitment to continue aggressively targeting Hezbollah, aiming to degrade its capabilities and infrastructure.
Further, the Israeli military stated that earlier in the day, its forces had initiated limited and targeted ground operations against Hezbollah targets along the southern Lebanese border.
These operations, which are based on precise intelligence, were described as direct responses to threats near the border that jeopardize northern Israeli communities.
The statement highlighted the support of Israeli air forces and artillery in conducting precise strikes on military targets in the area.
The ongoing operation, named “Operation Northern Arrows,” will continue depending on situational assessments and is being conducted in parallel with fighting in Gaza and other fronts.
This escalation follows the Israeli military’s artillery and tank shelling of towns in southern Lebanon’s eastern sector, including Khiam, Kafr Kila, Wazzani, Kafr Shuba, and Adaisseh, the previous night.
Additionally, the Israeli military announced the death of Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah in a raid last Friday in Beirut’s southern suburb, a claim later confirmed by the group.
A Palestinian militant group announced that three of its leaders were killed in an Israeli strike in Beirut, marking the first attack within the city limits as Israel intensifies its military actions against Iran’s allies in the region.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine stated that the three leaders were killed in a strike targeting the Kola area in Beirut.
