Hezbollah accused the Israeli military of launching cluster bomb attacks on the towns of Hanin and Tiri in southern Lebanon’s Bint Jbeil district.
The group claimed that Israeli forces used missiles loaded with cluster munitions, which are banned under the Oslo Convention, signed in 2008.
Although immediate verification of the use of such munitions was not possible, Hezbollah condemned the action as “a new barbaric crime” that adds to Israel’s ongoing atrocities against the Lebanese and Palestinian people.
The group accused Israel of using these weapons due to the failure of the international community to hold it accountable.
Cluster munitions, as defined by the UN., are weapons that release multiple explosive submunitions over a target.
While prohibited under the Oslo Convention, Israel is not a signatory to the agreement.
