The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, “Hamas”, affirmed that today’s meeting of the general secretaries of the Palestinian factions in Egypt should be an opportunity to reach a unified national position.

News reports mentioned on Sunday that “Hamas seizes every opportunity for dialogue with all Palestinian parties to formulate a unified national position, and has always been mobilizing to reach a national unity for the sake of the Palestinian cause.”

He added, “The central objective of Hamas is to be capable as Palestinians to draft a single plan to confront the crimes and violations of the occupation,” noting that Hamas believes there is a real opportunity for the success of the meeting of the general secretaries.

Qasem pointed out that “Hamas will make every effort to make it a success and to formulate a comprehensive national plan to confront the Zionist occupation,” confirming that “unified action is a national and political necessity to confront the occupation.”

Qasem called on the Palestinian Authority to release all political detainees, stating “political detention is a national sin and a moral crime.”

Today in the new city of El Alamein in the north of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the general secretaries of the Palestinian factions and movements are meeting at the invitation of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Three Palestinian factions announced that they will not participate in the meeting of the general secretaries of the factions, this was during press statements by officials in the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, and two organizations of the Palestine Liberation Organization, namely, Sa’iqa and the Popular Front/General Command.
