Hamas has requested mediators to revert to previous discussion frameworks rather than initiating new negotiations to achieve a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

The movement called on Gaza mediators to implement a truce plan presented by US President Joe Biden instead of holding more talks, as Palestinians fled a new Israeli military operation.

Last week, leaders from the United States, Egypt, and Qatar urged both Israel and Hamas to convene for talks scheduled for August 15th, possibly in Cairo or Doha, to finalize a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and secure the release of hostages.

While Israel has agreed to send negotiators to the upcoming meeting, Hamas initially considered the proposal but now suggests it may not participate in this new round of talks.

In a statement, Hamas called on mediators to present a plan that implements the proposals agreed upon on July 2, 2024, which align with President Joe Biden’s vision, a UN Security Council resolution, and mandates an end to the occupation.

The movement expressed concerns that further negotiation rounds or new proposals might simply provide cover for ongoing aggression and extend the conflict, which it describes as a genocidal war against its people.

The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed on Sunday that approximately 500 healthcare workers have been killed and hundreds injured since the onset of the Israeli offensive on Gaza, which began on October 7.

The ministry also reported that more than 310 individuals have been detained and 130 ambulances destroyed in the Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

The statement highlighted that the Israeli forces’ deliberate targeting of medical infrastructure has severely hindered citizens’ access to essential healthcare services. Additionally, attacks on health facilities and personnel in the West Bank have surpassed 340 incidents.

The ministry further noted that poor water and sanitation conditions, compounded by overcrowding, have led to an increase in preventable diseases and premature deaths.
