The Gaza Health Ministry announced a significant increase in the death toll from the ongoing Israeli aggression on the region, with fatalities reaching 40,786 and injuries totalling 94,224 since the conflict began on October 7 last year.
According to the ministry’s daily report, Israeli forces have committed three massacres against families in Gaza within the last 24 hours, resulting in 48 deaths and 70 injuries being reported to hospitals.
The report also noted that numerous victims remain trapped under rubble or are scattered on the streets, unreachable by emergency medical and civil defense teams.
The total casualties since the beginning of the conflict in early October now stand at 40,786 killed and 94,224 injured.
The Health Ministry in Gaza has urged relatives of the deceased and missing from the war to complete their registration through a provided link to ensure all data is accurately recorded in the health ministry’s registers.
In an escalation of public unrest, Israeli protesters clashed with police in Tel Aviv on Sunday evening, demanding a prisoner exchange deal with Hamas.
The demonstrations, which saw hundreds of thousands of Israelis taking to the streets, were met with a heavy-handed response from law enforcement.
According to Yedioth Ahronoth, the Israeli police deployed water cannons and sound grenades to disperse the large crowd in Tel Aviv, resulting in several minor injuries and at least 20 arrests for inciting violence.
The protests were triggered by recent developments in Gaza and the Israeli government’s handling of the hostage situation.
Earlier on Sunday, the Israeli Defense Forces announced the discovery of six Israeli hostages’ bodies in a tunnel in Rafah, southern Gaza. This revelation intensified public outrage against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration.
The discovery of these bodies led to widespread protests across Israel, with organizers estimating that around 770,000 people participated nationwide, including approximately 550,000 in Tel Aviv alone.
