Ongoing clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which have persisted since last April, intensified today in the eastern parts of the Sudanese Army General Command in central Khartoum.

The confrontations involved the use of heavy weapons and resulted in strong explosions from artillery shelling by the RSF directed towards the Armored Corps in southern Khartoum.

Columns of smoke rose east of Khartoum as a consequence of the artillery shelling in the vicinity of the Army General Command.

The battles extended into the Omdurman Grand Market area, with reports indicating continued clashes and resulting in clouds of smoke over the old neighborhoods of Omdurman.

In response, the Sudanese army conducted air strikes on RSF sites in the Old Omdurman area, escalating the hostilities between the two factions.

Simultaneously, the state of Gezira in central Sudan has been grappling with a severe power outage, along with disruptions to communications services and the Internet persisting for several days.

The deteriorating humanitarian situation in the state has led to a complete breakdown of the health sector, exacerbating the challenges faced by the local population.

The clashes and unrest in various parts of Sudan underscore the complex and volatile situation in the country, with different factions and military forces involved in ongoing confrontations, contributing to a broader humanitarian crisis.
