Egypt has issued a call for a regional and international summit on the Palestinian issue, reiterating its rejection of any attempts to settle the Palestinian question.
The announcement came following a meeting of the Egyptian National Security Council, chaired by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, just before the arrival of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Cairo.
In an official statement released on the Egyptian presidency’s Facebook page, Egypt extended an invitation to host the summit, which will focus on the developments and the future of the Palestinian issue.
The statement further emphasized that Cairo is engaged in diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation and halt the targeting of civilians.
Egypt is also actively working to facilitate the delivery of much-needed humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
Notably, Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula provides a safe route for delivering aid from various countries to Gaza.
Martin Griffiths, the head of humanitarian affairs at the United Nations, warned on Saturday that the humanitarian situation in Gaza has reached a “dangerously unprecedented” level.
Egypt’s call for a summit underscores the urgency of addressing the Palestinian crisis and seeking a peaceful resolution.
The international community will be closely watching as diplomatic efforts intensify to bring stability and relief to the region.
