Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu has affirmed his country’s willingness to enhance military relations with Iran, aligning with the security cooperation framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Li conveyed this sentiment during his address at the 11th Moscow Conference on International Security, held in Kubinka near Moscow on Tuesday.

Li emphasized that China is committed to bolstering the security cooperation mechanism within the SCO.

He highlighted the intention to deepen defense collaboration with Iran, which is the organization’s recent member, and also with Belarus, set to become a future SCO member.

Furthermore, the Chinese defense minister expressed Beijing’s readiness to engage in joint military drills and exercises with various nations.

He also underscored China’s dedication to expanding international collaboration in the realms of arms control and the prevention of nuclear weapons proliferation.
