Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr has made a major acquisition by signing Spanish defender Aymeric Laporte from English side Manchester City during the current summer transfer window.
The announcement came on Thursday as Al-Nassr officially unveiled the 29-year-old Laporte through a short video on the “X” platform.
In the video, he proudly dons the Al-Nassr jersey, bearing the number 27. A subsequent video released by the Saudi club highlights Laporte’s professional journey, spanning his time at Athletic Bilbao in Spain to Manchester City in England.
Renowned journalist Santi Aouna, specializing in player transfer markets, announced via his personal account on the “X” platform, “Aymeric Laporte has signed his contract with Al-Nassr. The deal runs until June 2026.”
Similarly, Fabrizio Romano, an expert in player and coach transfers, shared on the same platform, “Aymeric Laporte completed his medicals in Dubai as a new Al-Nassr player.
Laporte has now traveled to Riyadh after all parties agreed on a three-year contract, and all documents have been signed.”
Al-Nassr is determined to strengthen its defensive line before the end of the summer transfer window, following a sluggish start in the Saudi Pro League.
The team, champions of the King Salman Cup for Arab Clubs, faced setbacks in the initial two rounds of the league, losing to Al-Ittihad 2-1 and Al-Taawoun 2-0.
The Spanish footballer’s signing marks the sixth announcement made by Al-Nassr during this transfer window, following the acquisitions of Marcelo Brozović from Croatia, Seko Fofana from Ivory Coast, Alex Telles from Brazil, Sadio Mané from Senegal, and Otávio from Portugal.
