Osman Al-Jundi, correspondent for the “AlQahera News‎” channel reporting from Omdurman, on Sunday, relayed urgent news about fierce battles unfolding between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces in both eastern and western Omdurman.

Al-Jundi highlighted that intense explosions have rocked the districts of Al-Deim, Al-Sahafa, and Al-Ashara in southern Khartoum, due to the ongoing confrontations between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces.

Clashes in Sudan have been erupting since April 15th, resulting in hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries as the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces face off.

Amidst the strife, there have been calls for de-escalation, a return to the negotiation table, and efforts to safeguard the lives of the citizenry.

Notably, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has accused the Sudanese army of raiding the Central Bank of Sudan’s branch as well as other bank branches in Nyala, located in South Darfur.

An official spokesperson for the RSF, led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, stated on Saturday that the army has looted the Central Bank’s branch and all other bank branches since the onset of the war. Additionally, the armed forces, headed by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, have been implicated in robbing depositor funds and gold markets. It’s alleged that these stolen assets have been relocated to the headquarters of the 16th Brigade in Nyala.

The Darfur regional government, which comprises five states, has repeatedly stressed over the past few weeks that the humanitarian situation in the region is dire. The government has confirmed that three states, namely West Darfur, South Darfur, and Central Darfur, have been greatly affected by the war, witnessing significant casualties, destruction, displacements, and refugees. Meanwhile, North Darfur and East Darfur states are experiencing relative calm.
