In a recent meeting aimed at enhancing bilateral ties, Mohammed Moez Belhassine, Tunisia’s Minister of Tourism, and OSUGA Takeshi, the Japanese Ambassador to Tunisia, delved into potential avenues for expanding the unique Tunisian-Japanese relationship, particularly in sectors like tourism and traditional industries.
The discussions emphasized the development of sustainable tourism, cultural tourism, and the promotion of traditional crafts like pottery and ceramics. Both sides also stressed the importance of skill development, training, and the exchange of expertise and experiences.
According to a ministry statement, Minister Belhassine lauded the deep-rooted historical ties binding the two friendly nations. He praised the high level of cooperation achieved and called for continued efforts to elevate and broaden this partnership, reflecting the aspirations of both peoples. The foundation of this relationship, he noted, lies in mutual trust and respect.
Highlighting Tunisia’s proactive approach, Belhassine revealed that the Tourism Ministry is keen on targeting new promising tourism markets like Japan, hoping to attract tourists with higher spending capacities. He underscored Tunisia’s active participation in various international exhibitions and events held in Japan. He confirmed that Tunisia would continue to intensify its presence, especially in sectors of tourism and traditional industries, further promoting Tunisia as a premier destination.
On his part, Ambassador Takeshi reaffirmed Japan’s readiness to augment cooperation with Tunisia across various domains, including tourism and traditional crafts. He underscored the significance of initiating joint programs for vocational training, exchanging expertise, and promoting Tunisian tourism.
