The Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, held a discussion with Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, the Chairman of Sudan’s Sovereignty Council, and discussed the current situation in Sudan.

In a statement issued by the Saudi Foreign Ministry, Prince Faisal highlighted the need for all Sudanese factions to renew their humanitarian efforts.

The Saudi prince called on both the military and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a paramilitary group, to safeguard civilians and aid workers, and to make sure that essential relief reaches people through secure humanitarian passages.

He reiterated the Kingdom’s appeal for peace, prioritizing the country’s welfare, cessation of military hostilities, and pursuing a political resolution to restore peace and stability to Sudan and its citizens, according to the ministry’s announcement.

The conflict between the competing parties started on April 15, during an intended shift towards civilian governance, resulting in a power struggle.

The clashes in Khartoum, the capital, have claimed at least 580 lives and caused over 3 million Sudanese to be uprooted, plunging the country into one of the globe’s most severe humanitarian disasters.
