In a statement issued on Monday morning, the military identified the deceased soldier as Itai Azoulay but did not provide further details about the incident.
In a separate event early today, the Israeli forces intercepted two drones launched from the east, following air raid sirens in the central Israeli regions of Rishon Lezion and Palmachim.
These interceptions occurred on the first anniversary of the October 7 attacks, though the military did not disclose the origin of the drones.

UNIFIL spokesperson Nick Bernback told the newspaper, “This is a very serious development, and it is unacceptable to compromise the safety of UN peacekeepers while they are carrying out their Security Council-mandated duties.”
