Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has issued a warning about the potential escalation of regional tensions due to what he describes as increasing Israeli crimes.

In a statement on the social media platform X, Araghchi accused the Israeli regime of escalating tensions to the brink of a serious crisis through ongoing actions in Gaza and sending military equipment to the West Bank. He asserted that if Western supporters of Tel Aviv do not prevent further escalation and criminal acts by Israel, they are complicit in the consequences and should be held accountable.

This warning follows remarks by Iranian Revolutionary Guard Commander Major General Hossein Salami, who indicated on Saturday that there would be forthcoming news of retaliation against Israel for the killing of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh.

Salami’s comments came during a visit to the Khosravi border, where pilgrims participating in the Arbaeen rituals chanted “Death to Israel” and called for revenge for Haniyeh’s blood, according to the Iranian news agency IRNA.

The recent assassinations of former Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and Hezbollah military commander Fuad Shukr in Beirut have continued to cast a shadow over the Middle East political landscape. Both Iran and Hezbollah have vowed a “decisive and severe” response to Israeli actions following these assassinations.
