Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi affirmed his country’s support for all initiatives aimed at achieving peace and stability in the South Caucasus region and its full backing for dialogue and negotiations to achieve a just and comprehensive peace.
He praised the progress made in the border demarcation between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
This statement was made during a press conference held by President el-Sisi with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev today in Cairo.
President el-Sisi stated that the discussions he held with President Aliyev today reflect a shared commitment to continuing to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields and political coordination on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
He also emphasized the importance of boosting economic and trade relations between the two countries by leveraging their available resources.
The Egyptian President highlighted that regional issues were prominently featured in his talks with President Aliyev, particularly the Palestinian issue, which Egypt considers central to the region’s problems.
He explained that he discussed Egypt’s efforts to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza and to achieve a ceasefire, paving the way for the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967, borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant international resolutions.
This, he noted, would replace wars and destruction with peace and coexistence in the region.
