Jens Stoltenberg, the head of NATO, emphasized on Thursday that Ukraine still has the opportunity to overcome Russia’s aggression, provided that NATO allies fulfill their promises of increased weapon deliveries.

Stoltenberg, speaking during a visit to Berlin, highlighted the recent approval by the US Congress of a substantial support package for Ukraine, along with fresh pledges from countries such as Britain, Germany, and the Netherlands.

Acknowledging Ukraine’s struggles on the battlefield due to shortages of ammunition and weapons, Stoltenberg stressed the urgent need to swiftly translate these commitments into tangible deliveries to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

In addition to addressing the military support, Stoltenberg criticized China for aiding Russia’s war economy by providing advanced technology that enhances Russia’s military capabilities. He warned that while China expresses a desire for good relations with the West, its support for the conflict in Ukraine contradicts these aspirations.

The remarks come at a time when Germany, traditionally tied closely to China economically, faces pressure to reduce its reliance on authoritarian regimes following the energy shock resulting from the Ukraine conflict, which severely impacted German manufacturers.
