Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, in a letter to the President of the UN Security Council, stated that Tehran is not accountable for the actions of any individual or group in the region.

In a letter addressed to the French Ambassador, whose country currently holds the rotating presidency of the Security Council, Iravani responded on Monday to a communication dated January 26, prepared by the Permanent Representative of the United States to the United Nations.

The US communication contained “unfounded and baseless allegations claiming that paramilitary groups affiliated with the Iranian Armed Forces are involved in actions against American individuals and facilities in Iraq and Syria,” as reported by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

Iravani emphasized, “Iran categorically rejects such baseless claims. As we have previously affirmed, there are no groups affiliated with the Iranian Armed Forces, whether in Iraq, Syria, or elsewhere, that are under the direct or indirect control of the Islamic Republic of Iran or act on its behalf. Therefore, Iran is not responsible for the actions of any individual or group in the region.”

He further stated, “Moreover, the actions taken by the United States in Syria and Iraq are illegal and violate international laws and the United Nations Charter.”

In conclusion, Iran’s Permanent Representative to the UN requested the current President of the Security Council to record this letter as a document of the Security Council and make it available to its members.
