Iran has denied any involvement in the drone attack that resulted in the deaths of three American soldiers in Jordan.
The denial came in a statement from the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as reported by the official Iranian news agency, IRNA.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Nasser Khanani, was quoted by IRNA stating that these allegations are politically motivated and aimed at distorting the facts in the region.
This response follows a statement by the British Foreign Secretary, David Cameron, in which he called on Tehran to “de-escalate.”
The U.S. Department of Defense, the Pentagon, had earlier announced an increase in the number of American casualties in the attack on a military site in Jordan to 34 injured soldiers.
A Pentagon statement revealed that eight soldiers were transported to a military hospital outside of Jordan for medical treatment.
Jordan, in turn, condemned the terrorist attack that targeted an advanced position near the Syrian border.
