In a statement released on Friday, the “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” confirmed its execution of an attack on the Ain al-Assad Airbase located in the western province of Anbar, Iraq. This marks the second such attack within the past few hours.

The resistance indicated that the attack, which took place on January 26, 2024, was carried out using drones and resulted in precise strikes on American targets within the base.

The Islamic Resistance revealed that their fighters launched a drone attack on the occupied Ain al-Assad Airbase in western Iraq. This comes as part of a series of recent assaults targeting the base.

The resistance emphasized the accuracy of the drone strikes, which successfully hit their intended American targets within the military facility.

On the previous day, security sources had reported a similar attack on the same base, which houses American troops. This earlier attack also involved a drone laden with explosives.

Last Wednesday, various armed factions in Iraq responded to the ongoing Israeli aggression against Gaza by targeting three American military bases in Iraq and Syria. These actions reflect the wider regional tensions in the Middle East.

The recent drone attack on Ain al-Assad Airbase by the Islamic Resistance in Iraq highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region. As the situation continues to evolve, it remains a matter of concern for both regional and international actors.

Earlier this week, the Iraqi resistance announced a drone attack on U.S. forces stationed at the Ain Al-Assad base in Anbar province, western Iraq.

In a statement, the resistance declared, “In continuation of our approach to resist the American occupying forces in Iraq and the region, and in response to the Zionist entity’s massacres against our people in Gaza, resistance fighters attacked the occupied Ain Al-Assad base in western Iraq with drones last night,” affirming their commitment to continue targeting enemy strongholds.
