Iraqi factions operating under the banner of the “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” have claimed responsibility for targeting the Qasrak base, housing U.S. forces, in Hasakah, northeast Syria, with a drone strike.

This development was reported by Cairo Al-Ikhbariya, a Middle Eastern news outlet.

According to a statement released by the Iraqi factions, the attack on the U.S. base is part of their ongoing resistance against American occupation forces in Iraq and the broader region.

The statement further emphasized that this action serves as a response to what they described as “massacres committed by the Zionist entity against the residents of Gaza.”

Fighters from the Islamic Resistance in Iraq reportedly carried out the drone attack on the U.S. occupation base located in the Green Village deep within Syrian territory, as reported by Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper.

The incident highlights escalating tensions in the region and underscores the complexities surrounding the involvement of various factions in conflicts across borders.

It also raises questions about the security situation in northeastern Syria and the potential ramifications for U.S. military presence in the area.

It is noted that the American bases in Iraqi and Syrian territories have been targeted more than 110 times by the Islamic Resistance in Iraq since the outbreak of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, in response to these attacks, the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces’ headquarters were targeted by American drones, resulting in the death of several of its members, including a brigade commander.”
