A Libyan delegation proposed to the Egyptian side the possibility of allocating a commercial crossing on the border between the two countries to facilitate the flow of goods and enhance cross-border trade, away from the crossing dedicated to individuals at the Salloum land crossing.

A delegation from the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, headed by Mohamed Al-Raadi, discussed this proposal in addition to a number of economic files during their meeting with the head of the Egyptian Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Ahmed Al-Wakeel, in Cairo on Monday.

The General Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture explained on its Facebook page today, Tuesday, that the Libyan delegation discussed with the Egyptian side “several files, the most important of which are the obstacles facing the flow of goods between the two countries and the possibility of reducing the congestion that occurs at the borders, which disrupts the arrival of goods. The possibility of allocating a commercial crossing was discussed separately from the crossing of individuals and citizens.”

The General Federation added that the meeting between the two sides touched on discussing opportunities to enhance the contribution of Egyptian companies in reconstruction projects and to work to overcome the difficulties facing them, pointing out that the Libyan delegation invited the Egyptian side and Egyptian businessmen to visit Libya to learn about investment opportunities.

The meeting was attended by the Consul of Libya in Alexandria, Mohamed Saleh Al-Saadi, the Chairman of the Benghazi Chamber of Commerce, Saleh Al-Obaidi, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce in Giza, Osama Al-Shahed, the Diplomatic Attaché at the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Mohamed Samir, and a number of Libyan businessmen.
