The Russian Today website reports that British Home Secretary James Cleverly will announce ongoing reviews of measures aimed at curbing legal immigration. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will present the results of this review next month, along with details of the new treaty with Rwanda and emergency legislation enabling the transfer of immigrants to Rwanda for processing, amidst growing division within the Conservative Party on how to proceed with the migrant return process.

In his first appearance in the Commons since the Office for National Statistics revealed over a million people had arrived in the UK in the past two years, the new Home Secretary will acknowledge on Monday that the country has yet to assert control over its incoming population.

Cleverly is likely to state in his most significant moment since becoming Home Secretary that legal immigration needs to be curtailed and that illegal immigration should be zero.

He will outline a range of options the government will propose to limit legal immigration, including preventing workers from bringing dependents or restricting them to one relative, raising the minimum salary threshold for skilled workers, and setting a maximum number for care sector workers in general.

He will emphasize that the imminent plan to stop students from bringing dependents could also make a significant difference.
