China has expressed its readiness to engage in discussions with the United States “at all levels,” according to Chinese Vice President Han Zheng.

This announcement comes just days before an anticipated summit between US President Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in San Francisco next week.

During the “Bloomberg New Economy Forum” in Singapore, Han Zheng stated that high-level meetings between officials from Washington and Beijing over the past few months have sent “positive signals” regarding the improvement of relations.

He added, “We are prepared to enhance communication and dialogue with the United States at all levels, push forward mutually beneficial cooperation, manage differences properly, and jointly address international challenges.”

Relations between the two major powers had reached their lowest point in recent years due to disputes over various issues, including export restrictions, human rights, and national security.

However, in recent months, both sides have shown a willingness to bridge their sharp differences. Several US officials have visited China this year to bolster communication.

Biden has expressed his expectation to hold a summit and conduct “constructive” talks with Xi on the sidelines of the San Francisco summit next week.

While Beijing has not yet confirmed this meeting, Han reiterated today that Xi believes the future of humanity is linked to the relations between China and the US.

He stated, “The world is big enough for countries to develop and prosper together.” This indicates a willingness from China to work towards better relations with the United States and address global challenges collectively.
