Violent confrontations have broken out between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces in the Al-Iziyah region of West Kordofan. The skirmishes saw the deployment of various weaponry near strategic headquarters in central Khartoum. In related news, the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and the Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, traveled to New York City, USA. He leads the Sudanese delegation participating in the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Al-Burhan is scheduled to deliver Sudan’s speech at the U.N. General Assembly on Friday, September 22. He will also partake in high-level meetings to discuss bolstering multilateral cooperation concerning various international and regional issues on the agenda.
During the 78th session, Al-Burhan will meet with several world leaders and representatives of international and regional organizations. Discussions will revolve around avenues of bilateral cooperation and the role of multilateral collaboration under the U.N. framework for building a more stable future.
Throughout the week, nearly 150 heads of state and government from across the globe will address this annual assembly, capturing the world’s attention.
