The Palestinian Ministry of Health has reported that 15,899 people were killed due to Israeli aggression in Gaza since October 7th, with 70% of the casualties being women and children, according to an urgent update by Al-Qahira News news channel.
Ashraf al-Qudra, the spokesperson for the Palestinian Ministry of Health, has stated that hospitals in the Gaza Strip are overwhelmed, struggling to cope with the large number of wounded individuals.
He further appealed for the activation of humanitarian laws to protect Gaza’s hospitals.
During a press conference broadcasted by Al-Qahira New, Al-Qudra emphasized the need for United Nations intervention to prevent a healthcare catastrophe within the shelter centers.
Israeli forces have been launching attacks on various areas in the Gaza Strip by land, sea, and air since last Friday, following the expiration of a temporary humanitarian ceasefire, which was not extended.
The humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza came into effect at 7 a.m. on Friday, November 24th, for four days.
It was extended for an additional three days after continuous Israeli aggression that began on October 7th, resulting in the deaths of over 15,000 Palestinians, including 6,150 children, more than 4,000 women, and over 36,000 injuries (with numbers subject to change).
The ceasefire allowed for the exchange of detainees in Gaza with Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails and facilitated the entry of humanitarian aid into the besieged Gaza Strip.
