An altercation at Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp in South Lebanon resulted in one fatality and six injuries, as confirmed by a Palestinian official to Agence France-Presse (AFP) on Sunday.
Munir Maqdah, a leading figure in the Fatah movement in Lebanon, divulged to AFP, “The tense security situation within the camp has thus far led to the death of one individual and injuries sustained by six camp residents, including children.” He further stated, “We are working… to put an end to these clashes and ensure those involved are held accountable.”
Ain al-Hilweh camp, a haven for over 54,000 registered Palestinian refugees, has been witnessing frequent confrontations between rival factions. In recent years, the camp has also provided sanctuary to thousands of Palestinians who have sought refuge from the conflict in Syria.
