Houthi military spokesperson Brigadier Yahya Saree stated in a release: “In retaliation for the injustices against the Palestinian people and their fighters and in response to the massacres committed by the Zionist enemy against the people of Gaza, the Yemeni armed forces, with the help of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq and by the grace of God, conducted a joint military operation targeting a vital location in Umm al-Rashrash in southern occupied Palestine using several drones, achieving its objectives successfully by God’s grace.”

The statement added: “The Yemeni armed forces will continue their joint military operations with the Islamic Resistance in Iraq in support and victory for the Palestinian people until the aggression stops and the siege on the people of Gaza is lifted.”

It is noteworthy that “Ansar Allah” began in November last year to attack ships linked to Israel or heading to its ports in response to the Israeli war against the Gaza Strip, leading to heightened tensions in the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, and the Gulf of Aden.

In response, the United States and Britain began on January 12 a widespread attack on “Ansar Allah” positions in several Yemeni cities, following the group’s attacks in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea, before the group expanded its targeting to include American and British ships in retaliation for the airstrikes.

The group announced on October 10 last year that it would support the Palestinian factions in Gaza against the Israeli army with rocket and air attacks and “other military options” if the United States directly intervened militarily in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in the Strip.

Meanwhile, “Iraqi Resistance factions” occasionally shell areas in Israel, and U.S. bases in Syria and Iraq in response to the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.

“Iraqi Resistance Coordination” previously held a meeting following Israeli-American threats to launch a comprehensive war on Lebanon and its resistance, stating that “if Israel carries out its threat, the pace and quality of operations will escalate against them.”

It also confirmed that “American interests in Iraq and the region would be legitimate targets for the resistance.”
