WhatsApp has introduced Channels, a dependable, straightforward, and secure method to receive significant updates from individuals and organizations directly within the app.
This new feature offers an additional platform for social media managers to spread information, and for businesses, institutions, and even media, it provides a direct communication channel to WhatsApp users – a development that’s being welcomed.
Channels serve as a broadcasting medium, allowing administrators to send out texts, images, videos, stickers, and conduct polls, according to the WhatsApp blog.
Users have the option to search for Channels that are focused on their areas of interest, such as hobbies, sports teams, local official updates, and more. WhatsApp is currently developing a directory of subjects that users can follow.
Furthermore, users can access these channels not only through the app search but also via invite links shared in chats by friends, sent via email, or posted online.
Through this long-awaited feature, WhatsApp is directly competing with Telegram, which has long been known for this feature.
The new tool is currently available in Singapore, Egypt, Morocco, Chile, Ukraine, Malaysia, Kenya, and Peru.
