Richard Norland, the US special envoy to Libya, has expressed concern over the currently unstable situation in Libya. The US ambassador has warned about attempts to take advantage of internal divisions and frustrate the United Nations’ efforts to conduct elections.

In a press statement, Norland noted, “The current situation in Libya is inherently unstable, and the only way to obtain legitimacy in Libya is through elections.”

The special envoy further warned of numerous attempts to exploit internal divisions and thwart the UN’s efforts to hold elections. He suggested that the political stability of the country and the peace process would be at stake if these attempts were successful.

Libya, a country experiencing prolonged conflict, is currently undergoing a crucial transitional phase, making the upcoming elections vital for its democratic process and future stability.
