United Airlines and Delta Airlines, the American carriers, are set to resume their flights to Israel this week after a hiatus due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the Iranian attack.

Israel’s El Al was one of the few airlines operating regular flights since October 7th, as most foreign carriers suspended services.

Most tourists stayed away since Hamas’ “Operation Aqsa Flood” on October 7th.

United is scheduled to resume its flights to Israel on Thursday after a suspension of several weeks.

The airline was the first American carrier to resume direct flights to Israel in March but temporarily suspended service again a few weeks later following the Iranian attack.

Delta is also set to resume its services to Israel on Friday, with a daily flight to John F. Kennedy Airport in New York.

“The decision to resume the route on June 7, 2024, which was temporarily suspended in October 2023, follows an extensive security risk assessment by the airline,” the airline said in a statement.

“Delta continues to closely monitor the situation in Israel in conjunction with government and private-sector partners.”

Canada’s Air Canada, which resumed flights to Israel like United in March and temporarily halted them after the Iranian attack in April, was also scheduled to resume flights this month but extended the suspension until August.

Other foreign airlines, such as Lufthansa, Swiss, and British Airways, have already resumed flights to Israel on a limited basis.
