U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris clearly stated that the United States has no plans whatsoever to deploy troops to Israel or Gaza, in response to inquiries about the possibility of U.S. military involvement in the region.
“In no uncertain terms, we do not intend to send combat forces to Israel or Gaza. That is a definitive statement,” Harris expressed during her appearance on “60 Minutes,” which was broadcast on Sunday.
Harris reiterated the Biden administration’s stance, affirming Israel’s right to protect itself, while also highlighting that Palestinians are entitled to “equal measures of safety and security.” She underscored the necessity of distinguishing between Palestinians and Hamas, identifying the latter as the perpetrators of an attack and a recognized terrorist organization by the United States.
“Hamas, a terrorist group, has taken hundreds of young lives in a concerted attack, resulting in at least 1,400 Israeli fatalities. Israel undoubtedly has the right to defend itself,” Harris stated. “However, it is crucial to distinguish Hamas from the Palestinian people.”
“Palestinians are entitled to equal measures of safety, security, autonomy, and respect,” she added. “We have consistently communicated the importance of adhering to the laws of war and ensuring the provision of humanitarian assistance.”
Harris’s participation in the “60 Minutes” interview highlighted her prominent role in the administration’s approach to the conflict in Israel and Gaza. In a statement released by 60 Minutes, President Biden referred to Harris as his “collaborator” in addressing the ongoing turmoil.
Furthermore, Harris addressed the connection between Ukraine and Israel in their respective conflicts against Russia and Hamas. She dismissed the notion that the Middle Eastern war could sideline Ukraine, asserting, “Absolutely not. Ukraine remains a top priority for us.”
“We remain unwavering in our commitment to Ukraine, continuing to provide aid in its defense against Russia’s unjustified aggression,” she affirmed.
