House Speaker Mike Johnson has asserted the necessity of impeaching U.S. President Joe Biden, citing the White House’s obstruction of investigations into alleged misdemeanors committed by the President’s relatives. In an interview with Fox News, he stated, “This was a necessary step.”
Johnson pointed out that various judicial committees are diligently pursuing evidence of infractions by members of the Biden family. However, their efforts are being thwarted by the White House, which he accuses of concealing thousands of pages of evidence and proof.
The House Oversight and Accountability Committee is probing President Biden’s involvement in his relatives’ international business dealings, suspecting misuse of their positions for personal gain in cross-border transactions.
Republicans allege that Biden profited from his son’s business dealings during his tenure as Vice President from 2009 to 2017. Records from the House Oversight Committee indicate that Biden met with some of Hunter’s business associates and permitted his son to accompany him on official overseas trips. Devon Archer, a business associate of Hunter Biden, testified to the committee, mentioning efforts to create “an illusion of access” to his father. However, Archer clarified that these interactions did not involve business transactions, and he was unaware of any misconduct by Joe Biden.
The Oversight Committee Republicans claim to possess records showing $20 million in payments from foreign sources to Biden family members and their associates. However, a Washington Post fact-check found that while $7 million of this money went to Hunter Biden, none was directed to Joe Biden.
