Leaders of Egypt, Qatar, and the United States called on Israel and the Hamas movement to resume talks on the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip on August 15 in Doha or Cairo.

“We have called on both sides to resume urgent discussion on Thursday, August 15 in Doha or Cairo to close all remaining gaps and commence implementation of the deal without further delay, Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, President of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and President of the United States Joe Biden said in their joint statement released by Amir’s Office.

Intermediaries informed about their readiness to present the final draft of the agreement on the ceasefire in Gaza and the liberation of Israeli hostages.

“The three of us and our teams have worked tirelessly over many months to forge a framework agreement that is now on the table with only the details of implementation left to conclude,” the leaders stressed.

“As mediators, if necessary, we are prepared to present a final bridging proposal that resolves the remaining implementation issues in a manner that meets the expectations of all parties,” they added.

The announcement comes after months of intense diplomatic efforts to broker peace in the Gaza Strip, a region that has been ravaged by conflict for decades.

The ongoing violence has resulted in a severe humanitarian crisis, with widespread destruction, significant loss of life, and a dire shortage of basic necessities such as food, water, and medical supplies.

The involvement of the United States, Egypt, and Qatar as key mediators underscores the international community’s commitment to finding a sustainable solution to the conflict.

Egypt has historically played a central role in mediating ceasefires between Israel and Palestinian factions, while Qatar has been instrumental in providing humanitarian aid and supporting reconstruction efforts in Gaza.

The proposed ceasefire is expected to include provisions for the release of hostages, which has been a critical and sensitive issue in the negotiations. The successful implementation of the agreement would not only bring much-needed relief to the people of Gaza but also pave the way for further diplomatic efforts to achieve long-term peace and stability in the region.

As the August 15 talks approach, the international community will be closely watching to see if this latest push for peace can finally bring an end to the violence and set the stage for a more hopeful future for the residents of Gaza.
