Joyce Msuya, the Acting Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, stated that Palestinians, particularly in northern Gaza, are enduring indescribable suffering under the siege imposed by Israeli forces.
In her statement, Msuya emphasized the importance of protecting civilians, the wounded, healthcare workers, and medical facilities under international humanitarian law. She noted that many people are trapped under rubble, with first responders blocked from reaching them, while tens of thousands of Palestinians are being forcibly displaced.
Msuya warned that essential supplies are running out, and hospitals—overwhelmed by large numbers of patients—are being bombed. She called for an immediate halt to these atrocities and urged respect for international humanitarian law. She also demanded that Israel comply with the interim measures issued by the International Court of Justice.
Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories, added that executions of Palestinians are not isolated incidents. In a post on social media platform X, she stressed that the execution of civilians is part of the systematic practices of the Israeli occupation in Gaza.
