The British government announced on Monday the imposition of sanctions on four Israelis under the Global Human Rights Sanctions Regime, linking the new sanctions to hostile acts and violence against Palestinians in the West Bank.
The measures involve stringent financial restrictions and travel limitations on the four individuals, whom the UK asserts are involved in gross human rights violations.
British Foreign Secretary David Cameron stated that extremist Israeli settlers are threatening Palestinians, often at gunpoint, forcing them to abandon their legitimately owned lands.
He emphasized that such behavior is unlawful and unacceptable, adding that Israel must also take stronger actions to put an end to settler violence.
The British Foreign Office highlighted unprecedented levels of settler violence in the West Bank over the past year.
The United States also imposed sanctions earlier this month on four Israeli men accused of involvement in settler violence in the West Bank.
