On Friday, the UAE dispatched a plane carrying 37 tonnes of supplies specifically aimed at women and children to support the Lebanese people under the “Emirates Stands with You, Lebanon” initiative.
This delivery, as reported by the UAE’s official news agency WAM, marks the ninth aircraft to be sent as part of the aid directed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, with oversight from Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy President and Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers, and managed by Sheikh Diab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy President of the Presidential Office for Developmental and Martyrs’ Families Affairs.
Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation and member of the International Humanitarian Affairs Council, stated that this aid “reflects the UAE leadership’s commitment to promptly respond to such challenging humanitarian conditions and urgent needs.”
She added, “These efforts demonstrate the UAE’s steadfast and ongoing support for the brotherly Lebanese people, aligned with the country’s mission to enhance global security and stability.”
Furthermore, Al Hashemi emphasized the UAE’s commitment to expediting early recovery for communities affected by humanitarian crises, especially the most vulnerable groups.
Since the launch of the “Emirates Stands with You, Lebanon” campaign, the UAE has provided Lebanon with a total of 375 tonnes of food, medical supplies, shelter materials, and child necessities.
The UAE President has ordered an emergency relief package of $30 million to assist displaced Lebanese citizens in Syria. The UAE will also send six more humanitarian aid flights to Lebanon.
This initiative reflects the UAE’s ongoing efforts to support the Lebanese people in facing their current difficulties, highlighting its strong commitment to providing help during challenging times.
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati expressed his gratitude for the UAE’s urgent $100 million relief package provided to the Lebanese people.
