Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov warned that Moscow would respond immediately if the United States resumes nuclear testing.

Ryabkov emphasized that Russia would take action if the US moved toward restarting nuclear tests, stating, “Russia will immediately respond in kind.”

He explained that Russia withdrew the ratification of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) in November 2023 after losing patience with the process, having waited 23 years.

However, he clarified that this withdrawal does not mean Russia has left the treaty, as the country continues to follow its principles.

Ryabkov’s comments underline Russia’s readiness to act depending on future US and allied policies.
