Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati revealed that the idea of deporting Syrian refugees who violate the law in Lebanon will be put forward in coordination with the Syrian government.

Media quoted Miqati as saying, during a meeting with the Australian ambassador to Lebanon, that violators will be deported to camps that will be established inside the Syrian borders.

Mikati added that this idea will be in coordination with the United Nations, the international community and the Syrian government.

The number of Syrian refugees residing in Lebanon is more than one and a half million, about 900 thousand of them are registered with the UNHCR, and most of them are experiencing difficult living conditions, especially after the economic collapse that the country has been witnessing since the fall of 2019
